Is there really Natural heartburn Relief?

thousands of people ask regularly if there really is a natural way to control heartburn. After all that has been said in the news media about the potential harmful effects of medicines both over the counter and prescription. It is obvious that a natural relief formula should exist somewhere right?

Well humanity didn’t survive this long without finding a way to deal with life’s problems as they came up (no pun intended). So yes there is natural relief for heartburn available. Relief can be found by monitoring your diet first and foremost. You see, there are certain foods that can trigger heart burn. Some of these may affect others more than they affect you. It is best to pay attention to what you eat and how that affects you. By doing this you will learn not only what foods bother you, but more importantly, what types of foods bother you.

Let’s just say that you have a really bad heartburn episode after eating dinner and you are in bed. You can look back at your meal and remember what you ate. Focus first on the foods that are high in fat, and then focus on the ones that are acidic. Next take a look at how long before going to bed did you eat your meal? Did you eat too much?

The timing of your meal and the quantity of what you actually ate can also lead to heartburn. Understanding this and curbing that behavior is a natural way to get some heartburn relief. Lying down in bed while your stomach is full is generally a bad idea. It is best to make sure that you eat a few hours before your head hits the pillow if it is at all possible. If you know that you are not going to be able to stay up too long after eating it is better to eat light, eat slowly and eat foods that are low in fat and preferably foods that are low in their acidic value too.

There are certain Heartburn Foods To Avoid as well. these can be triggers for heart burn outbreaks. Simply recognizing that these foods are problematic can also offer you natural heartburn relief. A proper diet is a sure fire to reduce your risk of future attacks and to increase your quality of life, and your quality of sleep.

So it is possible to get natural heartburn relief, it just may take some understanding of your body, your habits and your diet to get the long lasting relief that you are probably looking for.

I hope this post helped you in some way. Happy eating and enjoy being heart burn free.

So what is the real truth about vinegar and heartburn? There is some confusion by many people on the subject and it is probably because there is so much conflicting information out there it is hard to know what to believe.

It is best to first educate yourself as to what heartburn is and what causes heartburn to better understand the dynamics of heartburn and the benefits and risks of using vinegar as a natural cure.

Many people believe that vinegar is a cure for heartburn because they claim that it neutralizes the acid in the stomach. Unfortunately, science does not back that claim up. You see, heartburn is caused by an over flow of stomach acid that leaves the stomach and makes its way up the esophagus.

Why does it do that? This usually occurs because of the types of food that are in the stomach and the quantity of the food that was consumed. If the stomach is too full or if it is too full of food that are very high in fat and acid the stomach acid can “leak” up the esophagus causing the painful experience known as heart burn. That is where that whole science thing comes in to play. Vinegar is acidic. So adding more acid to the stomach, scientists say, is a poor way to manage what is mostly an acid problem.

But isn’t vinegar natural? Isn’t it good for you? Well yes it is good for you because it does help the digestive tract due to the fact that it is acidic. This may actually allow you to feel some temporary relief from the effects of a large meal, but the risk of heartburn is still there. The acid value goes up when vinegar is added to the picture. But what about the nutritional value of vinegar, isn’t it good as a natural cure for other ailments? I can’t attest to vinegar’s uses in other remedies, but you must remember that the processing that most vinegar undergoes before it hits store shelves removes most if not all of the nutritional value.

Vinegar is listed on many doctor’s list as HeartBurn foods To Avoid. The fact that it is so acidic can actually cause some problems for people if it is taken regularly, Not only can it cause frequent diarrhea, it can also lead to the erosion of the stomach lining, that is no laughing matter! Have your vinegar if you must, in very small doses, and be aware of the risks. It doesn’t appear that vinegar is the magic bullet that some have claimed it to be heart burn. It is probably best to search for other natural heartburn remedies.

Some Heartburn Foods to Avoid Now

As painful as heartburn is a can often be controlled with the proper diet. There are many foods which can trigger heartburn. Eating the right foods and avoiding the wrong foods reduce the likelihood of another heart burn episode.

Most people believe that only the very fatty foods cause heartburn. But in reality there are foods from all of the major food groups that can lead to heart burn. For example, there are afruits vegetables meets grains and vegetables and beverages that cause heartburn.

Some fruits that cause heartburn are high in the acidic value. Some of these can include citrus, such as grapefruit juice lemon juice, lemonade, orange juice and tomatoes just to name a few. Generally speaking, if a piece of fruit is acidic and similar to those already listed, it is probably better to avoid eating it if you are concerned about a possible bout with heartburn.

Dairy can also cause problems with heartburn. It is very common for people that eat Ice cream, regular cottage cheese (fatty), shaaakes, or malts to have a heart burn breakout. These foods are very high in fat and have been known to cause heartburn in millions of Americans, especially if they are eaten late at night.

Certain vegetables can cause heartburn problems too though, despite their reputations for being health foods. You may notice that the vegetables are not necessarily in their raw form however. Potatoes aren’t normally a problem, but when you fry them and make French fries you are inviting heartburn trouble. The same thing goes for onions, turning onions into onion rings is an invitation to heart burn party. (I think I’ll pass, thank you.) Have

By now you should be seeing a common thread among the foods that are being listed. They are either very acidic or very high in fat, such as foods that are fried or sautéed in fatty oils. So it should be no surprise to you that your favorite hamburger, even if you use chuck steak is problematic, so are those marbled steaks that taste so good such as Ribeye or any other cut of meat that is high in fat. If you want to stay on the pain free side of heart burn opt out of the chicken nuggets, the buffalo wings, fish sticks and the like and go for the leaner portions if at all possible.

The same will hold true for grains by the way, you can have macaroni without problem, but when you add the cheese and the butter you have a heartburn recipe. Spaghetti and meat sauce may be problematic too because of the meat and cheese that is likely to be high in fat. Watch your salad dressing to make sure it is not too fatty or acidic. And it is best to avoid high fat sweets like cookies and doughnuts.

While the list of foods are probably on the tastier side of the spectrum there are some positive aspects to your situation. You can now be creative with the foods you eat and you will be able to tell whether or not certain foods will begin to bother you even before you eat them.

I hope this has opened your eyes to what you can do to reduce your own heart burn outbreaks. I will add more (or feel free to add you own if you know of any more)

Happy eating and remain heartburn free!

Heartburn and Pregnancy

Having a baby is such a wonderful experience. The anticipation of hearing your
baby for the first time is enough to keep you going through the tougher times
of the pregnancy. And while holding your newborn baby is a wonderful experience,
getting there is sometimes not as pleasurable.

Heartburn and Pregnancy go hand in hand for about half of all pregnant women.
Heartburn is painful enough as it is, adding pregnancy to the situation just
adds another layer of concern and complication.

Heartburn is a painful experience. The pain occurs because stomach acid is
making its way up the esophagus. The flap of muscle that keeps the stomach acid
where it belongs and not in the esophagus which causes so much pain many women
are concerned that they are having heart attacks.

It is hard for a woman to balance the responsibility of maintaining a healthy
pregnancy and the elimination of the pain that is caused by heartburn. After all
you are the one that is in charge of making sure this baby is okay right?

Many women feel that taking certain medications may harm the baby. This may be
true. You should definitely check with your doctor before you take any medicine
at all for any condition. Many doctors will give you a list of what you can and
cannot take when it comes to medicine (both prescription and over the counter).

Because of this concern. Many soon to be moms are turning to alternative medicine
or natural remedies to relieve their heartburn pain.

One option of course is to watch your diet and ask your doctor for advice.
Unfortunately though, many doctors don’t seem to think heartburn is just
a nuisance and forget that there is a woman in pain who wants the heartburn
to GO AWAY–FOREVER!!!

To learn more about Heartburn and Pregnancy and what you can do to reduce
episodes check out the heartburn foods to avoid page on the right.

It is no surprise that people are searching for a natural remedies for heartburn. After all, health care costs are spiraling out of control and prescription medications are becoming unaffordable. The reliability of prescription drugs has also come into question lately. It seems as if there are new drugs recalled by the Food and Drug Administration every week. One can’t watch an evening of television without noticing the commercials put out by the pharmaceutical companies. You know the ones with all the disclaimers about the POSSIBLE side effects of certain medications they want YOU to buy. So what can you do? Where is your natural heartburn relief? Let’s take a look at the following:

What is heartburn?

Heartburn is a painful and often frighteneing experience. It is not uncommon for people to believe that they are having a heart attack when they experience heartburn. Heartburn really has little or nothing to do with the heart. It is a problem caused by stomach acid that makes its way back up the esophagus. This usually results is a painful sensation in the chest (where the esophagus is located). The pain that people experience is caused by stomach acid burning the tissue in the esophagus–OUCH!

What causes heartburn?

If the stomach is too full from overeating or from eating too quickly the pressure in the stomach can push the stomach acid back up the throat. There is a muscle valve in the esophagus that opens and closes regularly to allow food to enter the stomach. Certain conditions and foods can cause heartburn too. Almost 1 out of every three Americans experiences heartburn on occasion. It is estimated that 1 out of 10 people experience this painful phenomenon regularly. Heartburn and Pregnancy is a problem for close to half of all pregnant women.

Is heartburn serious?

Some people say that occasional heartburn is not that serious of an issue. Chronic heartburn, or heartburn that occurs regularly can be a serious issue and can lead to GERD (Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease). This is a problem where the lining of the esophagus has become worn down by the stomach acid that has been making its way up the throat. this condition will also require medical care and often will result in very expensive prescription medications. One condition that can result from chronic heartburn is especially dangerous and very frighteneing if it occurs at night and the stomach acid is inhaled. This is called aspiration. Inhaling stomach acid in your sleep is very dangerous and can lead to serious medical problems. A doctor should be notified immediately. The pain that people experience is caused by acid burning the tissue in the esophagus–OUCH!
