Doctor told me to take Prilosec OTC for 14 days for my heartburn. I’ve read a from a couple of people that it does work, but once you’re off, it’s back and sometimes even worse.
I’ve looked around for natural remedies, such as apple cider vinegar, celery, cabbage soup, etc. And I’ve tried these and they do seem to help out (i’d say cutting the symptons in half as far as intensity and frequency), but doesn’t completely eliminate the problem.
I’m also guessing that it doesn’t completely eliminate the problem because once in a while i can’t help but indulge in more regular foods…
So…my questions are, what do you know about Prilosec OTC? What’s your take on using them?
Or should I go the natural way? Can I beat heartburn naturally?
Just to add more details, I use to go to the gym regularly for 5 years…and stopped in December because of financial reasons. And recently I had a molar pulled out and was prescribed codeine. Which I believe is what jump started the whole thing.

I am taking Aciphex for heartburn, I have had scope down the throat to see if I had an ulcer or stomach problems. Came back normal. Still had heartburn and stomach problems so they removed gallbladder. Alittle better. Then heartburn came back continued Aciphex. I started taking all natural multivitamin and an iron pill everyday feeling tired. Then I just read your not suppose to take antacids if anemic. Doesnt help your iron levels. What do I take to feel better? I dont want heartburn and I want my energy back. Know of any natural home remedies for heartburn? should i continue vitamins and iron pills? help please!!
i dont really have stomach pain anymore its more like a chest pain.

I’ve suffered for a while now with GERD which I think has led to mild esophagitis. Mostly now it’s just heartburn issues and pain when swallowing. I’m not a fan of the usual antacid and PPI regimens and I’ve been hoping to find a natural remedy that works.
So, I found this doctor’s website, William Lagadyn, who says he’s found the cure of all cures for heartburn. It’s hard to trust a website that only has nothing but glowing reviews of miraculous results, and frankly I’m just skeptical.
Has anybody tried Lagadyn’s cure? Can anybody give feedback on whether or not it was worth it to spend the twenty bucks on it? I mean, 20 bucks is nothing compared to getting rid of heartburn, and it’s nothing really just to buy the book anyway and give it a shot, but I was just hoping to hear from anyone who has actually tried his “cure”.
Also, any feedback or help with GERD/Heartburn would be great too! This left side throat pain when swallowing is getting pretty annoying.
