Some Heartburn Foods to Avoid Now
As painful as heartburn is a can often be controlled with the proper diet. There are many foods which can trigger heartburn. Eating the right foods and avoiding the wrong foods reduce the likelihood of another heart burn episode.
Most people believe that only the very fatty foods cause heartburn. But in reality there are foods from all of the major food groups that can lead to heart burn. For example, there are afruits vegetables meets grains and vegetables and beverages that cause heartburn.
Some fruits that cause heartburn are high in the acidic value. Some of these can include citrus, such as grapefruit juice lemon juice, lemonade, orange juice and tomatoes just to name a few. Generally speaking, if a piece of fruit is acidic and similar to those already listed, it is probably better to avoid eating it if you are concerned about a possible bout with heartburn.
Dairy can also cause problems with heartburn. It is very common for people that eat Ice cream, regular cottage cheese (fatty), shaaakes, or malts to have a heart burn breakout. These foods are very high in fat and have been known to cause heartburn in millions of Americans, especially if they are eaten late at night.
Certain vegetables can cause heartburn problems too though, despite their reputations for being health foods. You may notice that the vegetables are not necessarily in their raw form however. Potatoes aren’t normally a problem, but when you fry them and make French fries you are inviting heartburn trouble. The same thing goes for onions, turning onions into onion rings is an invitation to heart burn party. (I think I’ll pass, thank you.) Have
By now you should be seeing a common thread among the foods that are being listed. They are either very acidic or very high in fat, such as foods that are fried or sautéed in fatty oils. So it should be no surprise to you that your favorite hamburger, even if you use chuck steak is problematic, so are those marbled steaks that taste so good such as Ribeye or any other cut of meat that is high in fat. If you want to stay on the pain free side of heart burn opt out of the chicken nuggets, the buffalo wings, fish sticks and the like and go for the leaner portions if at all possible.
The same will hold true for grains by the way, you can have macaroni without problem, but when you add the cheese and the butter you have a heartburn recipe. Spaghetti and meat sauce may be problematic too because of the meat and cheese that is likely to be high in fat. Watch your salad dressing to make sure it is not too fatty or acidic. And it is best to avoid high fat sweets like cookies and doughnuts.
While the list of foods are probably on the tastier side of the spectrum there are some positive aspects to your situation. You can now be creative with the foods you eat and you will be able to tell whether or not certain foods will begin to bother you even before you eat them.
