pregnant and heartburn, ahhhhh!!!!
ok…so I’m sure some if not most of you have this problem…I’m 35 weeks pregnant and am dealing with the nastiest heartburn!! Tums used to work, as did milk..but not anymore. I have some Gaviscon that my doctor recommended but not only does it taste nasty, but it doesn’t really do the job either. I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas that might work..any safe natural remedies!!! thanks for any help!!

My doctor prescribed Prilosec for me when I was pregnant, that was before you could get it over the counter. Good Luck!
My heartburn was severe so my doctor prescribed Nexium. I havent had heartburn since! Ask your doctor
If Tums and milk dont work, you dont really have much else to go by, I take Quik Eze, and got a prescription for some tablets that are safe during pregnancy. I only use these when I get it really severely. It also has a lot to do with diet, cut out caffeine, fried foots, carbonated drinks, oranges (anything with high citric acid), chilli foods (curry), and if that doesnt work then you should see your doctor.
Heart Burn can deprive you of sleep and stress you out, so you’re best to get it looked at if nothing works.
I am so sorry! I had the worst heartburn with baby number 2, from like 4 months on. And the only thing that sounded good to eat was the stuff that made me suffer. I liked the Chewable Rolaids, they dont taste too bad, but they add up for the wallet. Sit up for at least an hour after you eat. Get lots of pillows and elevate yourself a bit. Talk to your doc about other solutions. You’re in the home stretch! Start thinking about that first meal after delivery! With number one I had Taco Bell, number 2 amazing lasagna (all the things I couldnt handle in those last weeks). Good luck!
i used tums rolaids bread milk plain baked taters and some med i cant remember the name of at the moment . i hope u get it to go away just keep tellin yourself its all worth it tho
grats and good luck
You’re about out of safe natural remedies! I feel ya, Tums don’t work for me anymore and I’m at 26 weeks. I have also heard that you can take Prilosec which can prevent you from getting heartburn, but if it’s just on occasion I’d ask your doctor about trying something different, as needed. See if they have any safe prescriptions.
I am up right now due to my heartburn… I plan on asking my doctor on Monday for anything that could possibly help.
Also, they are similar to Tums, but hard to find, there’s an offbrand I found at Medicap that the pregnant pharmacist recommended called Calcium Carbonate, and it knocked my heartburn out in seconds. Worked much better than Tums.
maalox!!
32 weeks.
i hateee heart burn
Oh, man, the heartburn with my second was the worst! I couldn’t sleep, if I laid on one side he kicked the crap out of me, and if I laid on the other side the heartburn kept me up. I’ve heard that Pepcid works for some pregnant woman, not for me. I seriously had to sleep practically sitting up to get any relief at all. Also if you can figure out your trigger foods that may help, although if you’re like me just about anything will do it. Sorry I don’t have more help to offer, but you are not alone!
