Try alkaline foods, such as yoghurt or milk, to ease the burning. If these do not work, try mildly acidic foods, such as orange, pineapple, or tomato juice. Papaya contains digestive enzymes and may be eaten fresh or in tablet form.
• Dried, salted umeboshi plums from Japan, available from health-food shops, are a great aid to digestion. A tea made from one cup of boiled water and one umeboshi plum can be flavoured with tamari and drunk hot or cold.
• In cases of severe heartburn, eating proteins and carbohydrates separately at different times during the day may help to improve digestion. Vegetables may be combined with either proteins or carbohydrates, but fruit is best eaten at the beginning rather than at the end of a meal.
• Herbalism One teaspoon of slippery elm powder mixed with water or milk will neutralise the stomach. An infusion of meadowsweet will also have a digestive, soothing effect.
• Homeopathy Take either Arsenicum 6C or Natrum phosphoricum 6C three times daily, stopping when symptoms start to improve. If there is no improvement, consult a homeopath.
• Shiatsu Apply pressure to the point PC6 (see Carpal tunnel syndrome) and ask your partner to shiatsu the stomach meridian (see below).
Helper: With your partner sitting on the floor with her back supported, place one hand on her upper thigh. Using the thumb of your other hand, shiatsu along the stomach meridian (shown). Concentrate on pressing the point Stomach 36 (ST36), located four fingers’ width below the kneecap in the indentation on the outside of the shin bone.
I dissolve baking soda with water and drink it. work great. and also gets rid of gas. I wouldn’t do it very often, because of the sodium. I get acid indigestion a lot and that works better that tums or Rolaids’s. You might want to check with your doctor on this one. I told mine about it and she prescribed something with the same ingredients so it can’t be all that bad. I take them once a day and am doing much better. Good luck and God Bless.
I’ve heard drink milk helps, but thats just hear-say.
