During my period I wake up at night with heartburn. I take Pepcid (which seems to work just fine during other times of the month) and it does not work. I try keeping myself slightly elevated or sitting up, and that helps a little, but not completely and I usually end up loosing at least an hour and a half of sleep just waiting for the heartburn to go away – which usually happens right before I need to get up anyway. Why is this only happening during my period? ( I don’t think it has anything to do with what I ate – eggplant parmesan with homemade tomato sauce – not spicy, not fatty, no sugar except natural in the tomatoes… well tomatoes are acidic….) I’ve tried a few other remedies like milk or sugar-water but haven’t found anything that consistantly works…

No matter what type of food I make for dinner, it just never sits right with any of us. We wake up with heartburn almost every morning and most of the time vomiting as well. I don’t think it’s just us because whenever we eat somewhere else it doesn’t happen and my cousin who claims to rarely have either problem gets it every time he visits. I appreciate the answers!
